Starknet is a Layer-2 zk-rollup on Ethereum that runs transactions off-chain and proves them on Ethereum using STARK zero-knowledge proofs.
It uses its own Cairo virtual machine instead of the EVM to achieve much higher scalability while inheriting Ethereum’s security.
