**OpNet** is a **Bitcoin Layer-1 / smart contract network built to bring DeFi and tokens to Bitcoin**.  
It lets developers build DeFi apps using Bitcoin liquidity instead of [Ethereum](https://talk.markets/t/ethereum-erc-20-cheatsheet/270?silent=true), essentially turning Bitcoin into a smart-contract ecosystem.
